4cost as a sponsor at the NATO Life Cycle Management Conference 2025
On 21 and 22 January 2025, 4cost took part in the NATO Life Cycle Management Conference in Brussels for the first time as a sponsor and exhibitor to present its software solutions in the areas of life cycle costing and sustainability.
The NATO Life Cycle Management Conference is organised annually by Mittler Report Verlag GmbH and serves as a central platform for the exchange of innovative approaches and concepts in the field of life cycle management of military systems. The aim of the conference is to optimise the efficiency and effectiveness of the provision, use and maintenance of NATO capabilities by taking into account aspects such as cost, quality, interoperability and sustainability. The conference promotes dialogue between experts from armed forces, defence administrations and industry to develop new standards and address current challenges such as technological transformations and geopolitical changes.

Joachim Schöffer (Managing Partner, 4cost)
Joachim Schöffer, Managing Partner of 4cost GmbH, attended the event to present the parametric costing software 4cost-aces for life cycle costing (LCC) and its latest upgrade 4cost-aces/sustain for the calculation of the product carbon footprint.
When it comes to product costing, the defence industry faces a number of industry-specific challenges requiring the use of professional costing software. Projects in this sector are characterised by extreme complexity, technically demanding products and a high variance of customer-specific requirements. Added to this are strict regulatory requirements, lengthy development cycles and the need to provide detailed evidence of costs and pricing (e.g. as part of audits). In this context, parametric costing software offers decisive advantages, as it enables well-founded cost analyses to be carried out at an early stage with little information.
‘The conference gave us interesting insights into NATO's structures, processes and challenges,’ says Joachim Schöffer. ‘The growing need for precise and reliable methods to estimate costs over the entire life cycle of military systems became particularly clear. Our specialised software solutions address precisely this need.’
We would like to thank all participants for the constructive discussions and positive feedback. We will participate again next year.
